Kamaria Lee, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine. She specializes in the treatment of breast cancer and sarcoma and sees patients at Emory Proton Therapy Center and Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown.

Dr. Lee trained in radiation oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where her work centered on breast cancer and on the practical realities patients face during treatment, from cost of care to quality of life. She brings that focus into the clinic, pairing advanced radiation techniques including proton therapy with clear conversations about what treatment will mean for each patient’s life outside the treatment room.

Education

Dr. Lee earned her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She completed her internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and her residency in radiation oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Research

Dr. Lee’s research examines financial toxicity in breast cancer, reirradiation, and cancer genetics, along with implementation science in global health settings. Her work looks at how the cost and delivery of cancer care shape patient outcomes and how treatment can be made both more effective and more accessible.

Publications

Dr. Lee has authored or co-authored peer-reviewed work in the American Society of Clinical Oncology Educational Book, Breast Cancer Research and Treatment, JCO Global Oncology, Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention, and Pediatric Blood & Cancer. Her recent publications address financial toxicity in breast cancer, germline pathogenic variants and response to neoadjuvant therapy in triple-negative breast cancer, imaging changes following proton therapy in pediatric spinal tumors, mobile health technology in sub-Saharan Africa, and quality of life in adolescent and young adult patients receiving radiation.
