Emory & Winship Affiliation

The Emory Proton Therapy Center is Georgia’s only proton therapy facility and one of the few in the Southeast. It combines the world’s most advanced radiation technology with the expertise of sub-specialized radiation oncologists from Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.

These physicians are part of Winship’s integrated teams that lead breakthroughs in cancer research and deliver highly targeted treatments for complex cancers.

Better Outcomes Start Here

Winship is Georgia’s only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center—a distinction held by just 73 centers nationwide. Like MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Mayo Clinic, Winship consistently delivers top outcomes through a model that connects research, innovation, and patient care.

Emory Healthcare is Georgia’s most extensive health system. It includes:

  • 11 hospitals
  • The Emory Clinic
  • 250+ provider locations
  • The Emory Healthcare Network (2,800+ physicians across 70 subspecialties)

This infrastructure powers Winship’s reach—supporting access to specialized cancer care across the state.

Emory Proton Therapy Center opened in December 2018. The center has treated more than 5,000 patients. It’s fully integrated into Winship’s care and research model, giving patients access to advanced therapies and clinical trials in one setting.
